In 1962, Alan Beall left his job as operations manager of the Ala Moana Center to form several real estate firms to develop, lease, and manage commercial properties, primarily shopping centers, in Hawaii. Within a few years, Hawaii Shopping Center Corporation and its’ affiliates were consultants for 22 retail centers. In 1967, Beall formed Merchant Square Company, which acquired and redeveloped historic buildings on Merchant Street in Honolulu, now known as Merchant Square. Pacific Enterprises, a New York Stock Exchange listed firm, recognized Mr. Beall’s ability and acquired his companies in 1970. These firms were later merged with Blackfield Hawaii Corporation and Beall was named Chief Executive Officer. Over the next eleven years Blackfield Hawaii became one of the largest and most successful developers of commercial projects in Hawaii, with annual profits exceeding $5 Million.
In 1981, Beall retired from Blackfield to form The Beall Corporation to offer consulting services, again specializing in retail centers. The first major client was Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center. The Beall Corporation’s most recent projects include Waterfront Row, a specialty center in Kailua-Kona, Restaurant Row in Honolulu, Kings’ Shops at Waikoloa Beach Resort, and Islander Shops on Kauai.
Cory Beall joined The Beall Corporation as Vice President in 2001 and brings extensive experience in leasing, asset management and project management. In 2005, Beall Capital Fund, Inc. was formed to act as the investment vehicle for Beall Corporation projects as well as investments in other real estate projects, retail ventures and small loans.
The Beall Corporation is currently involved in several major commercial development and consulting projects in Hawaii, and is actively pursuing development, acquisition, consulting and leasing opportunities.
